We do not recommend using the VPN client built in to Windows 10 because it will not be compatible with future upgrades to our security infrastructure. Although our tests with the pre-release VPN client from F5 have been encouraging, we do not expect a supported version of their “Big-IP Edge Client” software until after the official release. If you rely on Virtual Private Network (VPN) to connect to Brown services from off-campus, we do not recommend upgrading until Windows 10 is officially supported by our product, F5. If you upgraded from a previous version of Windows, you must uninstall earlier versions of the VPN client before installing this version, otherwise you risk rendering your computer unusable. Update: Brown's VPN client is now compatible with Windows 10. Edge may not work with some Brown services, so we recommend installing the browser you have used with those services in the past (such as Chrome or Firefox) instead of using Edge. Windows 10 comes with a new default browser called Edge. In more than one case, upgrading to Windows 10 caused wifi to stop working. We have noticed that a small number of Windows 10 upgrades have caused issues (whereas new computers running Windows 10 were less problematic). Update: With very rare exceptions, wifi is no longer an issue. We will continue to amend this text as Microsoft releases Windows 10 updates as well as after the July 29th official release. If you purchase a new computer that comes with Windows 10, which we expect to see in stores around September, our Service Center will be ready to support you, but you should be aware of these potential issues. If you have a personally-owned copy of Windows 7 or 8 and already clicked the “ Reserve Your Copy of Windows 10” prompt, you can always decide not to upgrade when the new version becomes available to you. We also found some issues with Brown services noted in the list below. Please read the "Known Issues" section below for more details on compatiblity before you upgrade.
